The days of rummaging through a friend’s bookcase to reveal their hidden passions and expose their guilty pleasures are coming to an end … in the physical sense. I’ve always found someone’s bookcase to be at least as telling as their medicine cabinet. The words we choose to ingest are significant, but then, I’ve always been a little language-obsessed.
I’ve also been a big proponent of technology moving us into a paperless world from an ecological standpoint. I do still love the feeling of my favorite, worn books in my hands though. The good news is that we can be green techies and still spy … I mean share!
I “stumbled upon” this cool site called Ownshelf. They offer a cloud-based service to share your ebooks. Whether you use you tablet, PC, smartphone or all three for your digital library, you can share it here. It’s a virtual commonplace for all of your friends’ bookshelves. You can borrow, browse and share your collection and theirs. If it’s epub, it’s sharable.
They also have featured authors each month. Sometimes, they’re actually authors. I’m always interested to know what the author I’m reading, is reading (how was that for some fancy language?) This month, it’s the infamous Mark Cuban. I’m not gonna lie, I was curious to see what he kept on his bookshelf. Is it all entrepreneurial, self-empowerment or does he lose himself in an epic saga of knights and magic from time to time? Aren’t you curious to know what Mark Cuban’s favorite books are?
Sign-up (it’s free!), share with me (I’m signed up through my Facebook). I want to know who you are … er what you’re reading.
You’re welcome and thanks for sharing!
