Watch Hulu from Outside the U.S.

No more excuses for my non-U.S. friends! Access Hulu using VPN Authority so we can watch and chat about the coolest, geeky shows!

I cancelled my cable subscription years ago.  I don’t have a smart TV yet, but an HDMI cable from my laptop to the TV works fine for those moments when it’s more than just me watching.  Hulu is one of those “go-to” sites for all things TV. Unfortunately, they have restrictions on users from outside the United States.

One of the many benefits of living virtually is making friends from all over the world.  Casual conversation often includes such things as TV shows and so it’s no surprise that I’ve heard a good number of complaints from friends about not being able to use some of the best sites.  Not to mention my pokes going un-retaliated on Facebook!

I really like those in-depth conversations about how WE would’ve handled the most recent issue on the Walking Dead (hatchet to the head really solves almost anything), or discussing the implications of jet packs in space as sparked from a scene in Battlestar Gallactica season 2.  So, selfishly, I set out to find a fix for this problem my friends are facing, so they could watch Hulu from outside the U.S.

It became clear pretty quickly that a VPN was the solution.  They’re tricksy things though, those VPNs, and some sites are pretty sophisticated in detecting them.  If you’re not familiar, VPN stands for Virtual Private Network.  They provide an encrypted tunnel between your computer and their servers.  Your data is encrypted en route and your IP address then comes from these servers.

I couldn’t find a free VPN that was secure and speedy – sorry! However, after reading and demo’ing a bunch of them, my best pick is VPN Authority.  They’ve been around for about seven years (stay away from those “flash in the pan” guys) and offer a VPN free demo.  Once you’ve tried their demo, I think you’ll be as impressed as I was at the ease and speed.  You can then sign up for only $5.30 a month.  For those less confident in their technical skills, no need to worry.  It really is pretty easy to set up, but if you hit any snags along the way, their step-by-step guides should get you through it no problem.

So no more excuses! Go get VPN Authority and get yourselves back on Facebook and up to date with the latest episodes of our favorite shows at Hulu!

Appreciating the persistence you put into your site and detailed information you provide.
It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t
the same out of date rehashed material. Fantastic read! I’ve bookmarked
